Weekend getaway to a large scale resort to take part in the TELL Mountain Challenge charity event & a Guiness World Record attempt!! Epic tree runs, lots of variation, free lessons, party, hot springs and more!
On the Saturday, TELL in association with Tokyo Snow Club will organize our first Mountain Challenge in Tsugaike, Hakuba. The event – a team and individual competition – will support TELL in its provision of mental health services to the international community in Japan. In the Team Challenge, teams will aim to ski down the equivalent of the worlds highest mountain, Mount Everest (29,029 ft/8,848m), in a single day, using the Ski Tracks smartphone application to record their results. The event will also include an Individual Challenge, skiing down the equivalent of Mount Fuji (12,389ft/3,776m) and a Kids/Beginners Challenge, skiing down the equivalent of Hokkaidos most famous mountain, Mount Yotei (6,161ft/1,898m), in a single day. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest individual men and women, and in a number of team categories, as well as for the best fancy dress individuals and teams, and in several other categories. Competitors will also have a chance to win great prizes in a charity raffle.
You’re sitting at your desk, thinking, “How many good ski weekends are left?” And global warming makes that an even more interesting question.
One thing is for sure, you don’t want to find yourself sitting in your rocking chair some day, regretting all the things you didn’t do. Such as having skied down (the equivalent of) Mount Everest (at Tsugaike Kogen).
You’ve been on YouTube, you’ve seen the guys (they’re usually French) doing absolutely insane stuff: wingsuit flying through Norwegian fjords, hang gliding from Himalayan peaks (after having hiked six weeks to get there), and skydiving without a parachute. The TELL Mountain Challenge is not that kind of event. The three challenges are achievable, and should be fun. Afterwards there will be a party. It will be the sort of weekend you can enjoy (and survive). Even if you’re French.
Tackle the event yourself, or put together a team, and not only will you almost certainly have a blast, but also you’ll help support TELL, which provides vital mental health services to the international community in Japan. The TELL Lifeline is free and confidential and it’s almost certain that someone you know has needed it.
Tsugaike Kogen Ski Resort is a large scale resort with slopes for all levels and our ski-in ski-out hotel is right in front of the lifts! The slopes directly in front of our hotel are incredibly wide and spacious making this are perfect for learning to ski/board without having to worry about getting in the way of other skiiers. The resort also features a super long gondola, two hit park areas, a hike up back country area and more.
