About Shiga Kogen

Shiga Kogen is a huge ski resort located in the heart of the Joshinetsu National Park in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Famous for its grand scale, ranging ski terrain, amazing panoramic views, and powder quality snow, Shiga Kogen is the ultimate destination for the keen skier and snowboarder in search of powder. As a host of 1998 Nagano Winter Olympic Giant Slalom and Paralympic events, there is no denying that Shiga Kogen is a world class ski resort.

Consisting of 21 ski fields and around 70 lifts, gondolas, ropeways and tows, Shiga Kogen is by far the largest ski resort in Japan. You really need at least a week to explore all areas of the giant resort. With merely one IC lift pass, all 21 interlinked ski fields beckon, offering you the largest winter playground imaginable.

We will be heading to Shiga Kogen on Jan 13~15 to check out the snow monkeys, dinrk some of the great locally brewed beer and sample some of the epic Shiga Kogen powder. You can check out the Shiga Kogen trip details here and have a look at photos from our trip last season here.
