Overview

The beauty of the autumn colors in Shosenkyo during November are a must see, set against a spectacular mountain, forest and stream backdrop. This trip features a ride in a cable-car to the summit where we will take a short/easy hike to a lookout with 360deg panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and Mt Fuji. After descending in the cable-car we will continue on a pleasant and easy hike along the riverside with interestingly shaped rocks, stunning waterfalls and fall colors. There towering granite rock formations along the way in combination with the waterfalls and brilliant reds of the fall leaves at this time of the year make for one of the most picturesque walks around.

The Plan

7:00 ~ 9:00:
Meet in Shinjuku. All abourd the TSC private bus. Relax and chat with old and new friends.
9:00 ~ 12:30:
Arrive at Shosenkyo. Board the ropeway. Check out the 360deg panorama and Mt Fuji views from the summit. Ride the ropeway back down. Beautiful walk/hike through the gorge past waterfalls and incredible rock formations.
12:30~13:30:
Picnic lunch by the river in the gorge.
13:30 ~ 17:00:
Winery tour. Visit two local wineries, wine tasting, grape and grape juice tasting. Free tasting at the first winery. Optional hot spring at the final winery (+610yen). Optional all you can drink wine tasting at the final winery (+1520yen)
17:00 ~ 19:00:
Return bus back to Shinjuku.

It was a great day out at Shosenkyo. Really nice to meet solo travelers & chat as we walked by the Gorge and viewed Mt. Fuji from the top of the cable car. I’d definitely go again :)

It was a very well organized trip to Shosenkyo by Daff and Bunko. I enjoyed a lot with the beautiful sceneries at the mountain, gorge, wineries & etc. I look forward to joining the next event whenever I’m available.

Lucked out with a beautiful day for this hike. Very scenic, including panoramic views. We had a full bus, but the guides did an overall good job of keeping things in order. Unforeseen traffic delays cut into the itinerary, but it was still a fulfilling trip. Highly recommend.

Really enjoyed this trip. It was amazing timing with lovely weather and the autumn leaves were out in full color. It was also very convenient with transportation arranged and having the guides navigate the hiking routes. Definitely want to join more Tokyo Snow Club trips!
