Usually I am a skier, but I was curious about snowboarding. That's the perfect trip. Included lesson helped to get started. Slopes are very beginner friendly. Snow conditions were not as good as in the more northern regions like Nagano, but still doable.

I had an amazing time! The hotel was run by a lovely family and they even had a dog downstairs! The first day, they drove us to Kagura and picked us up later which was really convenient. There was snow if you knew where to look and follow forecasts carefully. The nice lady at the inn made sure we were well fed with delicious homemade food. Naeba is easy walking distance and on the second day they took us to a nice little onsen in town that had an outdoor bath! Would love to go back
